OPEN HOUSE SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 13
BURLINGTON, NC – Tyler D. Studios, the latest and greatest local art collaborative will host a Grand Opening, Sunday, September 13, from 2:00 PM till 5:00 PM at 3119, Lear Dr. (Click here for map and directions.) The exhibiting artists are LM Wood and David Schaeffer of Elon University; Jamey Grimes, Craig Wedderspoon and Herb Smith of the University Of Alabama at Tuscaloosa as well as Edwardo Lapitano and Jeremy Dunklebarger, New York furniture designer.
In addition, the studios of Kathy Alderman, Kelly Alderman, India Cain, Jack Day, Jackie Dunklebarger, Nancy Garrett, Terri Kirchen, Judy Madren, Peggy McCormick, Stacy Poythress Rainey, Betty Tyler and Pam Watts will be open.
Abandoned Warehouse Re-opens Doors as Center for the Arts, Sept. 12
BURLINGTON, NC –Fine art, fine craft and fine design are just a handful of the offerings of Tyler D. Studios, the latest and greatest local art collaborative that will host a Grand Gala Opening the evening of Sept. 12, at 3119, Lear Dr. (Click here for map and directions.) The black-tie evening will feature live music performed by the Alamance Jazz Band, and an exhibition by honored guest artists, LM Wood and students of Elon University.
In addition to over 15 artist studios, The 14,500 sq. ft. facility features an 8, 500 sq. ft. fine art gallery and a teaching lab for both adult and children’s classes. Painting, drawing, ceramics, basket weaving, jewelry, cooking, scrap booking, and Japanese animation are just some of the topics that instructors will cover this fall. "From mixed-media collage techniques, pop-up cards, pottery, painting and more, we have something for everyone. (Click here for class schedule.) This is a tremendous step for Burlington and Alamance County that will enrich the quality of our lives and our children's lives through continued exposure to the arts," said India Cain, local artist and co-director of TylerD Studios.
In early February, Tyler D Studios got its start as a partnership between artists Betty Tyler, India Cain and local business owners, Doug and Brenda Dodd. After years of servicing telecommunications devices, the Dodd's decided to morph their warehouse into an artists’ hub. Under the guidance of artists Betty Tyler and India Cain, TylerD studios has developed to feature the work of 15 artisans in just 4 months. Among those with studio space are Kathy Alderman, Kelly Alderman, India Cain, Jack Day, Jackie Dunklebarger, Nancy Garrett, Terri Kirchen, Judy Madren, Peggy McCormick, Stacy Poythress Rainey, Betty Tyler and Pam Watts. Rotating exhibitions will grace The Gallery at TylerD Studios and classes for children and adults are well under way.

India Cain demonstrated basket weaving in her mixed-media gallery and discussed classes on the same subject..
Peggy McCormick put together a ceramic tea pot and talked about future wheel-thrown and hand-building pottery classes.
Katie Wall demonstrated oil painting in the TylerD teaching lab and discussed classes for both children and adults.
Betty Tyler put some finishing touches on a large portrait painting in the gallery area and gave an overview of TylerD Studios. Betty also discussed the classes she offers for adults.
Stacy Poythress Rainey demonstrated TylerD's capacity for large photography projects while she photographed a Harley Davidson motorcycle. She also discussed a class she will offer on how to improve your everyday snapshots.

TylerD Studios Ribbon Cutting ceremony set for 11:00 AM, July 16
Fine Art, Fine Craft and Fine Design are just a handful of the offerings of TylerD Studios, the latest and greatest local art collaborative that opens its doors to the public for the first time at a ribbon cutting ceremony, July 16 at 11:00 AM at 3119 Lear Drive. This event will feature over 10 artists, studios as well as an exhibition by honored guest artist, Eduardo Lapetina of Chapel Hill. Both the ceremony and exhibitions are free and open to the public. Refreshments will be provided.

Honored guest, Eduardo Lapetina will exhibit at TylerD Studios Ribbon Cutting

Guest artist and exhibitor, Eduardo Lapetina is known for his vivid abstract paintings coated with layers of thick paint. Instead of traditional brushwork, he prefers pouring, splashing, dripping and scratching his canvases to create turbulent surfaces and textures. Lapetina currently paints in Chapel Hill, N>C> and has studied prestigious places including the Vermont Studio Center, International Art Colony of Kicevo, Macedonia, and Cedar Park International Art Colony.
